Barrister Mohammed Abubakar has emerged the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress Party (APC) in Bauchi State.
Abubakar emerged the governorship candidate to contest against PDP in
the forthcoming 2015 general election, following the primary election
conducted by APC at Zaranda Hotel, Bauchi, on Thursday.
Mohammed scored 936 votes to defeat the former Minister of Police Affairs, Dr Yakubu Lame, who scored 806.
Yusuf Tuggar came third in the race, scoring 526 while Engr. Sadiq Mahmood scored 194 and Ibrahim Zailani scored 161.
Engr. Nuhu Gidado who contested the governorship election in 2011 in
defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) scored 86 and Orlando
scored 92 while Engr. Gambo Magaji got 66.
Total number of accredited voters at the APC primary was 2,901; with 2,865 votes cast and 30 votes being invalid.
The APC governorship candidate, Mohammed, was a one-time Attorney General and commissioner for Justice in Bauchi State.
