The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) will on Wednesday graduate a
total of 9,094 students out of which 127 will graduate with First Class
honours.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Bamitale Omole, a professor,
who disclosed this in a pre-convocation briefing, said the graduands are
drawn from 13 faculties.
According to him, 127 of the graduating list made first class; 2,360 others made second class upper and lower divisions.
To reward their dedication, the vice chancellor, represented by the
chairman of ceremonial committee, Prof. Titi Kuku, announced automatic
scholarship for first class graduating students in the institution,
adding that some of them may be given jobs at their respective faculties
as graduate assistants.
He said as part of events for the 40th convocation, former Managing
Director of Bank of Industry, Ms Evelyn Oputu, would deliver a
convocation lecture, “Entrepreneurship and the Relationship Between
Universities, Industry and Government.” (The Nation)
