MTN Foundation awards 1,372 scholarships to students

The MTN Foundation has reiterated its impact on the development of the Nigerian youth, by awarding scholarships to deserving students.
The Chairman of the foundation, Ambassador Hamzat Ahmadu, stated this during the presentation of the fifth MTNF Science and Technology Scholarship awards in Lagos.
This year, the foundation is awarding scholarships to 1, 205 high-performing science and technology students, as well as 167 brilliant, visually-impaired students.
Represented by a Director of the MTNF, Aishatu Sadauki, Ahmadu noted that the foundation was committed to supporting brilliant Nigerian students to accomplish their academic goals.
Ahmadu said, “Our impact goes beyond statistics and figures; to shaping Nigeria’s future through education; to making an investment in the lives of tomorrow’s leaders by providing them with an opportunity to pursue their dreams despite financial limitations.”

Ahmadu, who reiterated the foundation’s commitment to supporting academic excellence, urged the beneficiaries to continue to maintain high Cumulative Grade Point Average scores in their studies.
According to him, the foundation will continue to celebrate brilliant students as well as recognise those who overcome daily challenges in their quest for a brighter future.
He added, “We are here to celebrate academic excellence of students who have worked extremely hard and who unquestionably deserve an opportunity to continue to pursue their dreams of higher education.
“Also, clearly evident is the foundation’s belief in you. We are confident that this award will move you yet closer to your goal and wish you an enjoyable and truly successful journey ahead.”
Meanwhile, some of the beneficiaries have hailed the scholarship initiative.
According to Simon Peter Erhue, a Metallurgical and Material Engineering student of the University of Lagos, the offer would enable them to keep their hopes alive.
Another recipient, Miss Esther Akinnode, studying Industrial and Production Engineering at the University of Ibadan, said with the N200,000 scholarship offer from the foundation, she will conveniently cater to her tuition and textbook requirements.
The Oyo State-born, who promised to work hard, urged other corporate organisations to support the education of the youth.
