No fewer than seven students were injured when a fight broke out between two groups of students on Sunday evening.
When our correspondent visited the university on Tuesday, members of ASUU and some security officials were seen talking to the students.
However, attempt to reach the Chief Security Officer of OAU, Mr. Paul Ogidi, failed as he did not pick calls put across to his telephone set.
Also, the ASUU Chairman of OAU, Caleb Aborisade, said he was at the Seventh Day Adventist, where one of the injured students was hospitalised.
Meanwhile, the crisis between the students seems to be taking another dimension as a youth association based in Modakeke has written a letter demanding the release of their members.
A source revealed that the Modakeke youths expressed dissatisfaction with the way their members were “wrongfully punished and victimised.”
Two Modakeke youths were on Sunday evening apprehended, tied to a table, beaten and tagged as ‘cultists’ inside the Awolowo Hall of the university.
The source said, “An association has sent a letter to demanding that their members be released. That is really getting us scared because we don’t want a scenario that will lead to fighting between students and indigenes of the community.”
It was also gathered that the students apprehended one Akuma, who was alleged to have inflicted machete cuts on another student.
